Ayaan Hirsi Ali's book is packed with references to innumerable sources and seems to me to be thoroughly reliable. What surprises me is her desire to remain within Islam (albeit as a heretic) but to convince muslims in general that extensive reforms are necessary if Islam is not to continue to disintegrate into many warring factions which eliminate themselves.
